Oil in rear shocks

Need help please.
I own a -86 SEI, and need to refill one of my rear shock absorber with oil. Can I use any type of hydraulic oil, or is it a spesific type? And how much shall I add? (in centi-liters, Please). The reason I need to refill is that I bought one used shock on E-bay, and it was emty before sending.

I see your from Norway, so if you don't know what ATF means, it is Automatic Transmission Fluid

I will try to find a way to fill it trough the air hole :-)
I don't want to take the shock apart.

I picked up some used shocks last year and drained them completely then refilled them. Here is the trick I used. I hope it helps. First, get you one of those syringes used to inject liquids into meats or poultry. You should be able to find them where ever you buy kitchen cooking items. Cut the end of the syringe because they usually come with a point on the end and holes in the side. Cut the tip so the only hole is at the tip end.

Then, prop the shock so the hole is facing up and at the top. Draw some ATF into the syringe. Remember, only fill the syringe a little more than half way. You will see why as you do this. Look down into the air fitting and you will see a tiny hole.
1. Press the tip of the syringe onto/into that small hole.
2. While holding the syringe in place, pull the plunger until you see some bubbles enter the syringe. Just pull a little bit. This pulls some air out of the shock and creates a small vacuum. Lightly press the plunger to inject some ATF into the shock. Repeat this until the syringe is empty.
3. Refill the syringe and repeat step 2 until you inject the proper amount into the shock.
As you do this you will learn how much to pull and push the plunger. It took me about 10 to 15 minutes to fill each shock this way.
Good luck. Let us know if this worked for you. It helps to have a second pair of hands or to strap the shock to hold it.

I will come back to you when the job is done. I need a couple of days to try to find a syringe. And I will be away for two days for work.

I found a correct syringe today. I was able to screw it down the hole like a bolt, and the job was done i 30 min. Perfect!!
