Fuel meter unit

Is there any one who might know where I can get a replacement low fuel sensor for my 1986 Aspencade? New fuel meter units are discontinued. This little sensor goes on the bottom of the fuel meter unit inside the gas tank and turns on the low fuel dash light. There has to be some little similar unit available as all cars and trucks have them.

EBay is a good place to find Wing parts. Here is a fuel gauge float and sensor for $25 and $8 shipping.

I wonder if one from a car or truck would work.
Basic principle is that as the fuel level lowers the unit heats up and the lower the fuel the hotter it gets and that send the signal to the low fuel lamp.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.
