Hose to rear brake reservoir - jcmaun - 07-09-2012

Noticed that the hose attaching the reservoir to the rear master brake cylinder seems a bit spongy. That part doesn't show up as available on sites that I've checked. Anyone replaced it, and if so, what did you use?

It is just a hose, not much more than a shielded garden hose, and unlike a brake line it does not hold any pressure. So long as it is not leaking or allowing air into the system it is fine. It is probably the same as the fuel line, maybe thicker in diameter though.

Keep in mind the age of your bike and the age of those rubber hoses!
I would rather change a part when I want to, rather than when the part wants to for obvious reasons.
Keep in mind, in this case, the hose in not under pressure so it is not a specialty hose, other than maybe in shape.
It couldn't hurt to look for a replacement and change it out at your convenience, but don't lose any sleep over it.

If you are going to replace that hose make certain that you use neoprene or brake fluid safe hose else if you use natural rubber hose it will swell up and turn to gell overnight.
