A big welcome from the west coast of BC! Glad you're enjoying the site. (And the Wing!)

Re: New members post up a howdy! - donbeh - 08-12-2008

I found this site back in July and visited for a while. I decided to join since so many fine 1200 Wingers are here. I'm an old southern gentleman who rides a 1987 Interstate, beige with some good chrome. The bike only had about 38k miles on it in 06 when I bought it. My wife likes to ride but we don't get out as much as we would like. So, whata ya say we go for a ride!!

Oh, one more thing, where are the instructions for adding a pic of my bike? I saw them somewhere.

Re: New members post up a howdy! - Guest - 08-18-2008

Howdy all. I am about 5 days away from owning my first 'wing. I have a chance to trade off a truck I need to sell for a 1984 1200 GW. It has 47K on it with a service done early this year, which included alternator, battery, timing belts, all fluids (brake, oil, hydraulic). What else should I be looking for as this will be my first 'Wing? Thanks in advance...

Bill

Re: New members post up a howdy! - Guest - 08-22-2008

Hi there. I'm new to the web site. I have a 1986 GL 1200 Goldwing. I bought it used a few months ago. I looked for a forum site where I can ask some questions from more experienced Wing owners. Right now my issue is with the cooling system. I've read a few of the posting on this site relating to the cooling system and I'm impressed with the expertise and the willingness of you members to help out a fellow Wingnut.

I have the leaking problem that several others have posted about on this site. I have gaskets on order from my local dealer to try to fix that problem. Anyone want to recommend a better place to order parts?

My question here is how do you access the radiator cap for removal and reinstall without tearing the bike apart? I halfway through a box of bandaids so far from sticking my hand down from above and up from below without discovering the secret so far. My wife and daughter have smaller hands and have tried to help out but they lack the strength to turn the cap once they manage to get their hands on the cap.

Is there an extension filler tube that can be installed to bring the cap higher to a more accessible location?

Any help will be appreciated.

Re: New members post up a howdy! - Guest - 08-28-2008

Hi just joined today. I just bought a 1985 gold aspencade with 53K on it. I'm in the process of gathering all the information I need to change the fluids, filters, plugs and timing belts before I go for a long ride. I'm also trading with a guy on another site for a set of stock foot pegs to replace the floorboards currently installed. I have size 14 shoes and the floorboards, heel toe shifter and brake petal location make riding a little dangerous for me.
