Panisonic Radio Removal - wgj46 - 04-06-2007

Could anyone tell me how to remove the Panisonic Radio from a 85 Aspencade??

Theres a key slot between the radio and the clock. Put in the ignition key and turn. The radio should slide out of the slot. You may have to wiggle it some but it should slide out.

If the key don't turn then maybe its the wrong key as if the ignition was replaced at some time. If thats the case then hopefully someone else here can help.

I agree with the instructions above. Even if you take the dash apart I don't think that you can get the lock out until remove the lock cylinder. You might need to drill out the lock and replace it with one that's keyed for your bike.

One more thing, the radio does not pop out when the lock is undone you need to pull on it firmly to get it out.

Thanks "longhaireddwb" and Vic.
I was lucky and my key was the correct one and I was able to get the radio out with the key and a firm pull.

I recently bought a Hondaline CB from David Ernst that I'm in the middle of installing (got it working to day but have a couple of components to secure) and in the end I did not have to remove the radio.

You are right Vic about buying 25 year old technolgy but I'm trying to keep my GW looking as original as possible. Honda sure made this installation a chore. Thank goodness I was able to use the CB/radio info that many fine folks have posted on this site as the manuals and info have been very valuble for me during this installation.

Thanks again.

Why are you replacing the radio? What are your plans with the panasonic?
