This is an ASPY schematic I presume the SE is similar. I would tend to do something like this. The relay could be tucked in behind the headlamp, run a fused line from the battery to the relay, when the low beam is activated so is the relay.

Yes, the white wire comes out of the switch to the headlight. Where you tie in is a matter of preference. Remember, you're going to have to mount a relay somewhere, so keep that in mind when your running your wires. It is very tempting to use "scotch locks" but try to resist. The only good connection is a soldered one. You're also going to need a fuse to protect the circuit. Put the fuse as close to the battery as possible in the event of a crimped or chaffed wire. A "lighted" control switch would also be a good idea, so you know when the lights are on.
